Italy beat host nation Germany 2-0 after a superb curler from Grosso in the 29th minute of the extra-time period. Del Piero then added another one from a counter attack and bent the ball across the goal of Jens Lehmann.
Italy controlled the game in the 1st half and they were very offensive and played high-tempo football. Germany were lucky that Jens Lehmann saved many crucial shots and kept the Germans in the game.
In the 2nd half,Italy looked tired.Probabbly because of their fast football.The Germans pressed on but the Azurri were happy to defend with the world number one keeper Gianluigi Buffon and the world best centre-back Fabio Cannavaro.
Defensive midfielder, Gattuso also stopped many German attacks and the Italians took the game to Germany.
Although the normal time ended 0-0,the game was exciting and full of highlights. Extra-time kicked off with 2 shots from the Italians hitting the near post in just one minute! Germany's captain and goladen boy Michael Ballack looked like **** and did not prove to be such a star after all. Good luck Chelsea for next season =X
Just when everyone were down to walking pace and gave up attacking, the Italians had a corner in the 29th minute of the extra-time. Andrea Pirlo dribbled nicely and drew 2 Germans to him before cutting the ball to Grosso who curled the ballinto the far post of Jens Lehmann.The game was over by now but the Germans pushed forward for the one or two minutes left and was caught at the back when the Italians counter-attacked and did not camped at the back and they were rewarded with a second goal when Iaquinta (i think) unselfishly passed the ball to an open Del Piero who finished the game.
Now, Italy face the winner of the Portugal and France match in this year's World Cup final.Adious off to school now =/
