Liverpool had a very tough 1st half as Spurs fought hard and gave us a hell of a time. Neither teams could pry opem the other but had a handfull of clear chances. Alonso's left foot strike struck from outside the box missed everyone else and went just wide. Then Murphy also gave a very good through ball to Keane, who had a quiet game, but the pace of the ball took it away from the latter.

Liverpool's starting 11 had 3 changes as expected.

Reina
Finnan Hyypia Agger Riise
Gerrard Sissoko Alonso Gonzalez
Kuyt Bellamy

Bellamy started hungrily and made many runs all around the field. Kuyt too tried to make chances and he replaced his lack of speed with vision and flair. Both teams did well in the 1st half and there were a dubious decision by the referee when Bellamy went down in the box. The highlight isnt the tackle made by King and is actually the handball. It was shocking the referee did NOT see that but let play go on.

2nd half started and Liverpool went offensive, very. Spurs managed to hold on until the 62th minute when they had a counter attack. Subsitute Davids prounced on Jenas' pass and went in the box with only Reina to beat. However he unselfishly squared the ball for Jenas who made the miss of his lifetime by sliding the ball just wide of the goal. Liverpool then made use of their 2 man advantage (Jenas and Davids were stil in Liverpool's half in disbelief) and the ball fell to no one else but Steven Gerrard. He changed the ball to his left foot and placed it behind his marker and ran past him easily. He then crossed for Bellamy who made a repeat of Jenas' mistake by striking the ball against Spurs' goal-post but luckily Gonzalez was there and he finished cleanly.

The game opened up and Gonzalez was quickly replaced by Garcia who assisted the 2nd goal after Gerrard lost the ball while charging foward and Garcia cleverly placed the ball through the middle of 2 defenders, just like what he did for Crouch against West Ham, and Kuyt finished with a tremendous volley. There was a doubt of him being offside but replays showed that Gerrard was the one that was offside but as he fell and was on the floor and was not active in the play. Therefore it was NOT an offside.

The game went on and just when Liverpool was looking to end the game comfortably with a 2-0 win, Riise popped up the 3rd goal after Garcia's pass against and fired a missle from 37 yards. The defender whom i think is Michael Brown, invited Riise to shoot as he though that it wasnt gonna go in. But surprisingly, the shot went all the way in with Robinson stretched. The kop ended the game with the usual YNWA and RB gave Jols and pat on the shoulder as Tottenham went without scoring for 433 minutes and counting..

PLAYER RATINGS:
Reina-7
He did well and had good communication with defenders.

Finnan-8
Ran up to support Stevie G all the time and provided good width

Hyypia-8
Showed what he could provide us, his head HAHA

Agger-7.5
Was composed but lost the quite a few balls when trying to pump the ball infront

Riise-8
Need i say more? Although he did not help the left flank very well, he scored a wonder on his return

Gerrard-9
My man-of-the-match If not for his brilliance and hardwork, we would not have scored the 1st goal. The thing he did is simple actually but he made it looked more complicated by hitting the ball behind the defender with his other foot instead of those kind MO used to do

Sissoko-7.5
Worked very very hard and made good tackles and stopped Spurs' attacks

Alonso-7.5
Passed beautifully in the 1st half and it was funny when the kop shouted 'Shoot!' when ever he had the ball near the half way line

Gonzalez-8
His pace earned us corners and he struck many beautiful crosses and nearly assisted Bellamy just before half time. And he finished well after Bellamy's terrible miss

Kuyt-8.5
Worked very hard and even went back to midfield area to help out. He has a very good 1st touch and is very smart in terms of football

Bellamy-8
Was hungry for goals and chased after every ball whenever he could
